Pray Everything Was Just A Dream
He fell asleep and never woke up,
He wasn’t ill,
He wasn’t complaining,
Except for his constant grief,
It had been living in his eyes,
In his head it had always been raining,
One evening his girlfriend came home,
He showed no sign of life,
He lay in bed,
Elvis was singing,
She thought ‘Finally grief killed him,
It’s terrible! He is dead!’
A doctor examined his motionless body,
It wasn’t death,
He fell into the deepest sleep,
The doctor said ‘He is in a coma,
The best hospital is what he needs,
I’m truly sorry, Miss’,
He spent thirty years in a coma,
He became a renowned medical case,
The most prominent doctors only shrugged their
shoulders,
There was no sign of improvement,
His last beloved was alive,
Life is a miracle,
It could not wait,
She got married,
Her children grew up,
They had children of their own,
They had mortgages, husbands and wives,
Everyone got little elder and wiser,
Everyone had a place to call home,
The medical bills continued being paid,
He kept living and hating wonders,
‘What a travesty!’ some people said,
He didn’t mock only life,
The most famous living dead in New York,
He mocked and teased death either,
The authorities and doctors had many discussions,
How to treat a hopeless case,
Surely they looked down on wonders,
The verdict was ‘It’s an irreversible coma’,
He was declared brain-dead,
Moral disputes calmed down,
Without making much noise,
The hospital administration unplugged the artist,
Citing the right of a dignified death,
It didn’t make any sense to keep alive a ghost,
Who had been roaming Earth.
Epilogue
To get lost in hell is very easy,
All that we need to do is to roam the dream land,
Not feeling rushed
and busy,
It’s how he got lost,
Yesterday he cheated
the gravity law,
All Saints’ Day candles burned out,
It happened yesterday
morning,
Today he would be late,
They shed no
light anymore,
It’s how he kept flying.
